Wellington Mara's grandson scores first NHL goal vs. Rangers

The grandson of the late Wellington Mara scored his first career NHL goal Thursday night against the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist.

Patrick Brown, 23, a right wing for the Carolina Hurricanes, put up his first two pro points in his 10th career NHL game, including his first finish at 11:05 of the first period to open scoring in a 4-3 defeat of the visiting Blueshirts.

Fittingly, he had his breakout game against New York, where his late grandfather, Mara, was the longtime owner of the NFL’s Giants.
