Rangers’ Dylan McIlrath blames only himself after getting waived

Dylan McIlrath’s time as a Ranger might have come to an end.

The organization’s first-round pick (No. 10 overall) from the 2010 draft was placed on waivers Thursday, meaning the rest of the league has until noon Friday to put in a claim and take on the rest of his one-year, $800,000 deal. If he clears, the Rangers can send him to AHL Hartford, and he can return at any later date.

“Obviously disappointed,” McIlrath said after he participated in practice, his team preparing to leave for Raleigh, N.C., where they will take on the Hurricanes on Friday night.
