It hasn’t taken either of them very long, but Mats Zuccarello and Derick Brassard are making their contract extensions with the New York Rangers look like total bargains.
Brassard is in year two of his five-year, $25 million extension while Zuccarello is just beginning his four-year, $18 million extension.
Brassard made good on his extension last season, setting career-highs in goals (19), assists (41) and points (60). This season, he has already bested that goals total by leading the team with 25 and counting. His 53 points is good for second on the team behind Zuccarello.
