When the New York Rangers have an off night, one of the only players who stays on his game is Zuccarello. He is one of the best Rangers to win one-on-one puck battles behind the goaltender. This includes both in the defensive and offensive zone.
Plays at the boards to keep the puck in the offensive zone are Zuccarello’s specialty. A majority of the time that Ryan McDonagh gets the puck back to the point, it was due to Zuccarello’s intelligent play to keep the puck alive.
Zuccarello always seems to be, at the least, one step ahead of the play.
