New York Rangers’ Analysis: Rangers get smoked after bye week, lose to Islanders 7-2

It’s hard to put into words all the things that went wrong for the New York Rangers in this game. Some will argue that the bye week did them a lot more harm than good. However, that is absolutely no excuse for this team to embarrass themselves on home ice in a game they knew they needed to have.

The game started right for the Islanders, and it remained that way. Anthony Beauvillier scored a few minutes in, but the Rangers got a power play goal by Kevin Hayes that tied the game at one shortly thereafter. However, Shane Prince made it 2-1 to end the first period, and everything went downhill from there.
