How Eric Staal’s Rangers stay becomes ‘whole other ballgame’

Eric Staal’s run on Broadway hasn’t gotten off to a good start, but with his first trip back to Carolina coming up on Thursday, the player the Rangers hoped would finally get them over the hump in the playoffs is showing signs of life.

“It’s been an adjustment,” Staal said during a conference call on Tuesday, two days after his best game since arriving from the Hurricanes a month ago.

Staal had scored just one goal with his new team prior to netting a pair after being moved to left wing Sunday against Pittsburgh. Still, his transition from the only team he’s known as a professional hasn’t gone exactly as planned.
