Henrik Lundqvist yanked again as Rangers’ rally falls short

Henrik Lundqvist allowed seven goals in the Rangers' loss on Tuesday night at the Garden.

This was about as bad as it gets. And then, with Henrik Lundqvist on the bench, all of a sudden it wasn’t.

The Rangers orchestrated one of the wildest nights of the season on Tuesday at the Garden, as they were down to the Stars 4-1, then down 7-3 when Lundqvist was replaced for the start of the third period by the untested Magnus Hellberg — up from AHL Hartford only because of the injury to regular back-up Antti Raanta.

But in the end, it just wasn’t enough as the Rangers couldn’t get the tying goal in the mad dash of the final moments, losing 7-6.
