The New York Rangers had not had a player score 50 goals in a season since the 2005-2006 season when Jaromir Jagr reached the milestone. Last season that mark was equaled by Chris Kreider.
He netted number 50 during a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, becoming only the fourth player in the rich history of the Rangers franchise. He joined (Vic Hadfield (1971-72), Adam Graves (1993-94), and Jaromir Jagr (2005-06) and also is the first homegrown Ranger to reach the 50-goal plateaux and is the longest-tenured Ranger on the current roster.
Kreider continued to have a career season in goals (52) and points (77).
