Flyers barely got away with a little funny penalty business

Jakub Voracek takes a shot on Henrik Lundqvist on Saturday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA — No harm, no foul.

That became the sum and substance of the snafu during Saturday’s game in which the officiating crew including referees Kelly Sutherland and Dave Lewis allowed the Flyers an illegal substitution off the bench following a penalty kill that resulted in a Jakub Voracek breakaway that Henrik Lundqvist foiled at 15:45 of the first period of the Blueshirts’ 3-2 shootout victory.

This developed in the aftermath of the incident in which Wayne Simmonds received a match penalty after sucker-punching Ryan McDonagh to the ice at 10:36.
