Shutout makes Lightning’s Ben Bishop a king for the night

Bish, please had never been so apropos.

Living up to the popular Tampa catchphrase created for him, Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop quieted all criticism of his play in the Eastern Conference final by posting his second career playoff shutout in a 2-0 win over the Rangers in Game 5 on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.

Though Bishop entered the game having allowed five goals in each of the two previous games, coach Jon Cooper said Saturday he never considered sitting his starter, playing in his first-ever playoffs, calling the idea “asinine” and “preposterous.”

Bishop, making 26 saves, backed up his coach’s belief in him.
