Wilmer Flores leaves Mets game early with dehydration, dizziness

New York Mets first baseman Wilmer Flores left tonight’s game against the Nationals early because of dehydration and dizziness. He was replaced by utility man Philip Evans, who had never played first base in his professional career before tonight. Flores made a beeline to the clubhouse with one out in the bottom of first inning after he failed to scoop up two ground balls hit his way.

In his one at-bat, Flores hit a double off of Nationals starter Tanner Roark. Flores’s name came up in trade speculation and rumors over the past few weeks, but he was one of several players the Mets ultimately retained as the deadline passed earlier today.
