Tim Tebow suffers broken hamate bone, likely out for season

Tim Tebow suffered a broken hamate bone while swinging a bat over the weekend. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair the break and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to Adam Schefter.

The New York Mets signed Tebow in September 2016 and he split the 2017 season in Single-A between the Columbia Fireflies and St. Lucie Mets. He was promoted to Double-A for 2018 and has been having a solid year offensively. In 84 games with the Binghamton Rumble Ponis, he was hitting .273/.336/.399 with a career high 6 home runs and a 106 wRC+ in 84 games.
