Mets rookie RHP Seth Lugo held the Marlins to just two runs, five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday night, as he improved to 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA.
"This kid has done nothing but come here and saved us," manager Terry Collins said after the game.
Collins pulled Lugo with a three-run lead after throwing just 82 pitches.
In the event the Mets win a Wild Card spot and move on to the NLDS, Lugo's next start will likely be against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in the Division Series.
