New York Mets acquire RHP Chris Bassitt from Oakland Athletics after All-Star season

The New York Mets on Saturday acquired right-handed starter Chris Bassitt from the Oakland Athletics, it was announced.

In exchange, the A's receive right-handers J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller.

Bassitt, who is a season away from free agency, went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 4.08 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 2021 and was named to his first All-Star Game.

In mid-August, Bassitt -- who led the AL in wins at the time -- was struck by a 100 mph line drive off the bat of the Chicago White Sox's Brian Goodwin; he underwent surgery to repair three facial fractures and was back on the mound just over five weeks after being hospitalized.
