Mets set record with postseason shares over $300K

NEW YORK -- The Mets didn't leave their first World Series in 15 years without some handsome parting gifts.

Major League Baseball announced Monday that the Mets issued 44 full postseason shares worth $300,757.78 apiece, a record total for a World Series runner-up. The World Series-champion Royals issued 58 shares worth $370,069.03 each.

MLB's player pool was a record $69.8 million in total, formed from a percentage of the gate receipts from every postseason game, and distributed to the 10 teams who played in them. The Mets, who sold out all seven of their postseason games at Citi Field, received $16,771,715.
