With their second selection (#48 overall) in the 2018 MLB Draft, the New York Mets took a gamble and selected 17-year old Simeon Woods-Richardson out of Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas. Thus far, the gamble has paid off.
In Woods-Richardson’s first five appearances for the GCL Mets, he sports an impressive ERA of 0.00. In 11.1 innings pitched, he has 15 strikeouts and has allowed just 6 hits (Stats as of 8/15).
In his two starts and three relief appearances, he has displayed an excellent fastball and a very nice 11-5 curveball.
