Mets can’t waste any more World Series at-bats on Michael Cuddyer

In the seventh inning of Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night in Kansas City, Terry Collins used Michael Cuddyer to pinch-hit for DH Kelly Johnson. Going to Cuddyer in that spot was inexplicable, and leaving Cuddyer in for the remainder of the game was mind boggling.

With Royals LHP Danny Duffy on the mound, going to a right-handed hitter made sense. However, going with Cuddyer and not Juan Uribe was a poor choice.

Cuddyer, who has two hits in his last 29 at-bats dating back to the last week of the regular season, has been largely inept this season.
