Mets are planning to bring Jenrry Mejia back

The non-tender deadline is Wednesday and the Mets are planning to tender a contract to RH reliever Jenrry Mejia, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Mejia, 26, was suspended for 162 games this past July after his second positive test for illegal performance enhancing drugs. At the time of his suspension, Mejia had recently returned from his first suspension for illegal PED’s (which was for 80 games) that he received in March.

If Mejia is suspended again for using PED’s, he will be suspended from Major League Baseball for life.

At the moment, Mejia is pitching for Licey in the Dominican Winter League, where he has compiled a 4.
