Kirk Nieuwenhuis is calling it quits.
The former Met, who was playing for manager Wally Backman’s Long Island Ducks, retired on Friday, according to multiple reports. Nieuwenhuis hit .259 with 11 homers and 41 RBIs in 62 games for the Ducks this season.
Nieuwenhuis, who hasn’t played in a big-league game since 2017, played with the Mets from 2012-14. In 2015, the outfielder played 64 games with the Mets sandwiched in between a 10-game stint with the Angels. His last two seasons were with the Brewers.
