Terry Collins immediately pulled Conforto from the game in favor of newly promoted Eric Young Jr. The move was said to be made “for speed and defense.” This uncovered several potentially serious issues for the Mets moving forward.

For one, Michael Conforto is the hottest hitter on this team. There are very few instances in which removing your hottest hitter is the right thing to do.
