Alderson talks OF trade, Wheeler in bullpen on eve of winter meetings

Sandy Alderson met with reporters in suburban Washington Sunday on the eve of the winter meetings with many expecting the Mets to deal an outfielder to bolster their bullpen and/or bench.

Alderson said it's "unlikely" the Mets trade more than one of Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson or Michael Conforto. "I don't see that happening."

He also said that Zack Wheeler is an option in the bullpen when he makes his expected return after a two-year absence recovering from Tommy John surgery.

As for Wheeler, Alderson said "we're trying to think trying to think expansively where he may fit.
