With Major League Baseball’s amateur draft coming up on June 3, we thought it would be fun to go back in time and look at how things might have turned out if the Mets had taken selected players.
There are multiple factors to be considered and a lot of subjectivity when determining what the “Optimal Pick” might have been, but the things most heavily weighted included where the player was drafted vis-à-vis where the Mets were making their selection, if the player has produced major league value, the numbers the player has put up in the minors, and where the player is on recent top prospect lists.
