This wasn’t only about Phil Jackson this week, the week when people acted as if we’d somehow lost the young Earl Monroe, as a friend of mine said, instead of the young Greg Monroe, and couldn’t even sign the best Lopez in the NBA. This was more about the Knicks, and what they’ve become, the old mythology about the mecca of basketball colliding with the reality of James Dolan’s Garden over the past decade-and a half, and what a joke it’s become.
