When it was announced that James Dolan had given Knicks fans exactly what they wanted and brought Phil Jackson “home” to run the Knicks, a veteran of NBA coaching, still in the league, called me up and said the following:
“Wait and see. This is going to be one of the greatest boondoggles in history.”
The guy saying that isn’t somebody with a pro basketball ax to grind, isn’t somebody who doesn’t like Jackson, isn’t somebody who doesn’t respect all the titles Jackson won as a coach across all the years when he had Michael and Pippen and Kobe and Shaq and them.
