Knicks Rumors: Mavs and Knicks close to Tyson Chandler trade

In a huge bit of Knicks rumors which could very well become major news by day's end, the New York Knicks are close to a deal which would ship Tyson Chandler back to the Dallas Mavericks for a bevy of assets.

Here's the particulars courtesy of Marc Stein of ESPN.com:

Sources told ESPN.com that the Mavericks, who immediately made reacquiring Chandler one of their priorities after their first-round playoffs exit to San Antonio, soon will complete a trade with the Knicks that they will clinch by agreeing to take back the contract of New York's out-of-favor guard Raymond Felton, as well.

The trade is expected to cost Dallas two starters -- point guard Jose Calderon and center Samuel Dalembert -- along with prized young point guard Shane Larkin, reserve guard Wayne Ellington and future second-round draft compensation.

Since letting several key players walk in free agency after the team's NBA title run in 2011, the Dallas Mavericks have missed Chandler's presence down low most of all - prompting them to put together a deal of massive proportions in order to reacquire him.

He currently has one year left on a four-year, $60 million deal.

Chat Sports will have more on this breaking story as additional information is made available.
