It turned out to be only a one-game reunion with Steve Weatherford.
The Jets cut the veteran punter on Wednesday, four days after signing him in a pinch to fill in for the injured Ryan Quigley. Weatherford didn’t punt particularly well in the loss to the Patriots, but to be fair, he only knew he would be playing a day before the game.
Quigley was out with an infection in his right shin. He had said the goal was to be back on Wednesday, so with Weatherford now released, Quigley is presumably healthy enough to kick again.
