Some thoughts and observations on the Jets after watching a few OTAs and listening to what the players and coaches are saying:
1. QB non-competition – Todd Bowles can spin it any way he wants, but what he is saying and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said last week were not the same thing. After listening to both men speak, I will be shocked if Geno Smith is not the starting quarterback on Sept. 13 against the Browns.
I think Bowles is making a mistake here, his first misstep since he took the job. Smith has shown enough in two seasons that he deserves a chance to compete for the job.
