Jets' Geno Smith says he's OK with new pressure

The new Jets regime has significantly improved a roster that now has enough talent for it to be considered a legitimate playoff contender. The team has a top-flight defense and finally features a true No. 1 receiver in Brandon Marshall.

How far the Jets go will largely depend on what they get out of the quarterback position. The starting job is Geno Smith’s to lose entering his third NFL season, and much more will be expected of him with the upgrades throughout the squad. Higher expectations, Smith says, don’t add more pressure on him.

“I don’t feel any pressure,” Smith said Wednesday at his football camp at Boonton High School in New Jersey, where he and area coaches worked with 300 kids grades one through eight on football fundamentals.
