It’s going to be the NHLs big new marque event. From September 17th to October 1st it’s going to best-on-best hockey as eight teams vie for best in the world.
It feels like a brand new tournament, but it really isn’t. The World Cup of Hockey dates back to the 70’s when it was called the Canada Cup, and only became known as the World Cup of Hockey in 1996. The tournament makes a big comeback this year, after a long 12-year absence.
Today the rosters for all eight teams were finalized. And a few New York Islanders made it to their respective nations or continents team.
