The New York Islanders have a bit of a goalie competition on their hands between Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss. Since both are playing for Team Europe in the World Cup of Hockey, the battle for starting goalie will begin during the competition.
Dave Holcomb writes how the World Cup will be a good preview of the competition. Team Europe has three goalies; Halak, Greiss and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Frederik Andersen.
Even if Greiss out plays Halak it will still be just a small sample size, like the playoffs last year.
