Brian Boyle scores the game-winning goal Tuesday.

Every time it seemed like the Islanders had the game in hand, it slipped away. They would then regain it, and it would slip away again.

Finally, it was the Lightning’s Brian Boyle as Brooklyn’s anti-hero, getting the game-winner 2:48 into overtime to beat the Islanders, 5-4, in Game 3 of their second-round series on Tuesday night at Barclays Center.

It was reviewed to see if Boyle was offside, and upheld. What wasn’t reviewed was Boyle’s big-time hit on Thomas Hickey just before that, which kept the Islanders defenseman out of the play and left Boyle open at the far post, to finish a ricochet off the back boards.
