Islanders lose crucial game to Bruins as power play fails

The Islanders’ power play failed them in key moments and they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bruins at Barclays Center Saturday night to fall two points behind Boston for the final playoff spot in the East.

Riley Nash scored his second goal of the game 4:12 into the third period to snap a 1-1 tie and the Islanders misfired on two of their six power plays later in the third in a slog of a game that featured only 37 total shots on goal, 19 by the Islanders.

John Tavares had the lone Islanders goal at 10:05 of the first to give the Isles a brief lead, but Nash responded 36 seconds later after a bad turnover.
