The New York Islanders notched their first official victory in Brooklyn with a 4-2 afternoon win over the Winnipeg Jets. Four different forwards contributed goals -- John Tavares, who had one of them, also added two assists -- while Thomas Greiss recorded his first victory as an Islander.
The Isles began the Columbus Day affair in impressive control, logging the game's first nine shots and drawing four first-period power plays. Though most of those early shots came from the man advantage, the Isles were definitely earning the calls, driving the net and otherwise creating a ruckus to elicit Jets transgressions.
