With Coliseum behind them, Islanders left feeling empty

WASHINGTON — The Islanders weren’t just upset their time at Nassau Coliseum officially came to an end with Monday’s 2-1, Game 7 loss to the Capitals at Verizon Center.

They were looking forward to some local playoff hockey, just like much of the rest of New York.

“It’s disappointing,” Kyle Okposo said. “We wanted to play the Rangers really bad at home. We wanted to keep playing more games.”

And Okposo thought they had a good chance.

“I felt like we had enough to raise a banner this year,” Okposo said. “That’s how it felt in the room.
