Why Giants burned a precious timeout before 2nd half even began

The game clock inside MetLife Stadium still read "15:00" but the Giants called a timeout.

In an extremely rare circumstance seen Sunday during a 20-15 loss to the Jaguars, the Giants burned one of their precious three second-half timeouts before even one second ran off the clock in the third quarter.

It left fans baffled on social media and in the stadium.

"My helmet just died. It just cut out. It died on me," quarterback Eli Manning said. "I have to get a play called. Unfortunately, we had to use a timeout there.
