Veteran defensive backs Cooper Taylor and Bennett Jackson among Giants cuts, per sources

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants waived defensive backs Cooper Taylor and Bennett Jackson as they reduced their roster Tuesday to 75 players, according to a source.

Jackson was a seventh-round pick in 2014 out of Notre Dame. He struggled with knee injuries – missing each of the past two years – and was buried on the depth chart this summer. He started the summer at safety before being shifted to cornerback, his college position.

Taylor was the Giants’ fifth-round pick out of Richmond in the 2013 draft. He also struggled with injuries throughout his time with the team, and was even released last season.
