Murphy to name former Passaic freeholder N.J. secretary of state

Gov.-elect Phil Murphy will announce Monday that he is nominating a former Passaic County freeholder to become New Jersey's next secretary of state, NJ Advance Media has learned.

Tahesha Way will be introduced at an 11 a.m. news conference in Trenton, according to two sources with knowledge of the decision.

The sources asked for anonymity because they are not authorized to speak about Murphy's pick.

Way -- who received her undergraduate degree at Brown University and her law degree at the University of Virginia -- is an attorney with a law firm in Totowa.
