Giants co-owner John Mara has waded into the ongoing Colin Kaepernick debate, and is receiving criticism for doing so.
Mara recently told The MMQB that he has "never received more emotional mail" than he did about Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem last season, even though Kaepernick played for a team (the 49ers) several thousand miles away that was not even on the Giants' schedule. Additionally, Mara said fans threatened to boycott the team if any Giants ever followed Kaepernick's lead.
No Giants players did protest during the national anthem last season, but it was a very public topic of discussion and consideration around the team prior to the Week 2 home opener against the Saints.
