On Wednesday, May 16, the Saints made another couple of moves. Added to the roster was undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Eldridge Messington out of UCLA. To make room on the roster, another fan favorite, linebacker Michael Mauti was released along with tackle John Theus.
The thing that stands out about the signing of Eldridge Messington is that it shows that the Saints definitely have a certain type in mind with their wide receiver corps. Physically, Messington is a Michael Thomas clone. He’s 6-foot-2, 210-pounds and runs in the high 4.4, low 4.5s.
