The speculation is now over, as New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced that Drew Brees has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Veteran Luke McCown will start in his place.

Payton stated that Brees threw this morning, and the velocity simply wasn’t there. The decision was ‘easy’, per his press conference. Payton added that Brees should return sooner than later, and will continue to rehab next week.
