NEW ORLEANS -- As promised, New Orleans West Bank native and New Orleans Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis has organized a free “peace camp and rally” for kids aged 6-18 on Saturday at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park.
Lewis has been passionate and outspoken for years about his desire to stop the violence in his hometown -- even before the shooting of former teammate Will Smith on Saturday night shined a national spotlight in the issue.
As Lewis told me earlier this week, one of his main goals through his charitable foundation has always been to reach out to kids in the community personally and share his story about how he found a successful path in life, even though he came from difficult circumstances.
