New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was chosen by his peers to win the 2018 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. This is the first time he has received this recognition.
Per an NFL press release, this award recognizes players around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field. Each team nominated one of its own for the recognition, and then narrowed that list down to eight finalists. That group of eight was whittled down to one winner at the same time as player voting for the Pro Bowl.
The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award was created in 2014 as a tribute to the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
