Contract negotiations for Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have been at a standstill the past few months, the quarterback told ESPN on Saturday.
Without discussing a new deal the past three months, it seems highly unlikely the two sides will come to terms on an extension before training camp begins next Thursday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Brees told ESPN his goal is to have a new deal before the regular season opens at the Superdome on Sept. 11 against the Oakland Raiders (12 p.m. on FOX).
