Rumor Central: Sam Mitchell may join Alvin Gentry's revamped staff

Despite ending the 2016-17 NBA season with a lousy 34-48 record, New Orleans Pelicans owner Tom Benson chose to bring back head coach Alvin Gentry and general manager Dell Demps. Both are fully aware that they could lose their jobs if the team doesn't play better next season, and Gentry has already begun the process of revamping his coaching staff.

Gentry first brought in Denver Nuggets assistant Chris Finch to replace Robert Pack, who hopes to become a head coach in the D-League, and according to The New Orleans Advocate, Phil Weber also won't return.
