The UNM women’s basketball team pulled off the recruiting version of a Texas two-step during the past week.
Coach Yvonne Sanchez and the Lobos received verbal commitments from a pair of Texas prep standouts: 6-foot-2 post Brittany Panetti, who visited Albuquerque over the weekend, and 5-11 guard Mykiel Burleson, who visited long before that.
Panetti averaged 12 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks as a junior at Tompkins High School last season. Tompkins is located in Katy, a western suburb of Houston.
Burleson averaged 9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals as a sophomore at Pflugerville High School in 2013-14.
