For the first time, in a long time, the New Jersey Devils won something meaningful. The Devils won the NHL’s Draft Lottery Saturday evening, securing them the #1 overall pick in the upcoming Entry Draft in Chicago. For all that went wrong this season, this is the organization’s chance to start to make things right.
New Jersey moved up five spaces and won the NHL Draft Lottery, giving them the rights to the first overall draft pick. The Devils have never made a selection at number one overall before, however, as a franchise, they did in 1979 as the Colorado Rockies.
