John Quenneville scored twice, including the winning goal 2:53 into overtime, to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 4-3 victory over the Red Deer Rebels in Game 1 of their WHL Eastern Conference final on Friday.
Quenneville opened the scoring in the first period for the Wheat Kings, who are making their second straight appearance in the conference final. He would end the game in overtime, capping a thrilling come-from-behind victory for the home team.
"It was crazy, crazy emotional game," Quenneville told CKLQ via the Wheat Kings' official website. "What an amazing crowd we had tonight, so much energy in the building and I'm so glad we got the win.
