New Jersey Devils Acquire Brian O’Neill from the LA Kings

In the middle of today’s press conference at the Prudential Center which revealed the teams future plans to honor their legendary goalie Martin Brodeur by retiring his jersey, Devils GM Ray Shero was behind closed doors working out a trade that would send a conditional seventh-round draft pick over to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Brian O’Neill.

The trade was first reported by Bob McKenzie of TSN:

LAK get conditional 7th-rd pick for Brian O'Neill going to NJD. O'Neill was AHL MVP last season. Conditions relate to GP/re-signing.

As McKenzie mentioned, O’Neill was the 2014-2015 Less Cunningham Award winner, which is awarded to the AHL’s most valuable player.
