Now entering their second full season without Lou Lamoriello, the Devils are doing all they can to reestablish their identity as a hockey team.

There is a clear vision in the head of general manager Ray Shero, and it’s one of a hard-working team that might not be the best in league right now, but is one the fans can be proud of on a nightly basis. That began last season, Shero’s first in New Jersey, when they were surprisingly in the postseason conversation. But coach John Hynes’ squad still missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year, and the areas for improvement were glaring.
