At the onset of the 2017 season, Revolution fans clamored for Donnie Smith to emerge as a regular contributor. The UNC-Charlotte grad has made just four starts since the Revs drafted him in 2013, and has yet to see the field this season.
With playing time at a premium, the Revolution shipped Smith to the Charlotte Independence (USL) on Wednesday, where he is expected to remain through the end of the month, according to Jeff Lemieux.
